SPRING!!!!!

Well, it's the first day of Spring....and the day after the Big Day! We did it...got married yesterday...for the fourth and final damn time!

Lynne did a wonderful ceremony and I highly recommend that if you need a Justice of the Peace, you should seriously consider hiring her! She wrote stuff to say that was absolutely wonderful and so appropriate for our situation. She even downloaded music and played it for us after the ceremony...Ann Murray's "Could I Have This Dance." It was very sweet!

Afterwards we went and got Jean and then motored over to The Fisherman...for the lobster dinner we had promised Lynne as her compensation for doing the ceremony. We had a great time...the lobster was excellent and the company was fantastic! I had a glass of wine, which, coupled with my usual tiredness, put me in a semi-sleep by the time dinner was over! That's okay, I dozed a bit in the back of the car on the way home and then went right to bed.

This morning Frank and Jean came up. Jean went out in the yard and worked on hacking down brush. Frank and Sandy installed the new handrail that Frank made for the stairway. It looks like it was always there! What a great job he did. Now I will have two railings to grab onto going up and down the stairs....much safer.

Tomorrow Sandy goes to the trial with Bub and Truman...she'll be dropping Lily off at Frank and Jean's, which means it will be nice and quiet here. I can sleep until noon! YAY!! I guess I'm not THAT sick of sleeping!

Oh, we got hamburgers to go from the new place down the street....nice beef and nice buns. Well worth the charge...and so conveniently located. Sandy says it's only a quarter of a mile down the street...so we can walk there easily....when we want to go for ice cream!

Now I'm off to take my nap.

GO HUSKIES!!!

New Resource

New restaurant down the road....the barbecue place went out of business...no surprise--it took FOREVER to get your food and when it came the meat was like shoe leather.

Anyhoo...there is an Italian place there now, Milano's....and it is pretty good! Mark and Carol had burgers there (angus beef) and they loved them...Mark said the rolls tasted like they were homemade and were "like butter"...he says.

We got an order of chicken parmagiana to go last night. We split it..we were full and I even had enough left over for a lunch today!

Next we'll try the pizza and grinders....although Sandy hates to give up Occum Pizza....this place is closer than driving down to Occum. It took her only one minute to go from door to door last night.

She came home all excited as she asked if they were going to be selling ice cream and they told her that starting next week they will! Wow...one minute away from ice cream...it's like a dream come true!

I keep going back to that Camry and decided that despite the shortcomings...it's my first choice. Sandy started the wheeling and dealing today, over the phone. Of course the guy immediately got the wrong car...she was talking about the light blue one and he does research on the dark blue one...which is a demo and he could knock $$ off.

We'll see.

Aging Conference

Made it to the Aging Conference and, most importantly, made it home again!

Started out shaky, took a Five Hour Energy drink and it kicked in about an hour later, got me through the day.

It was great seeing a lot of folks I haven't seen in a long time...very good day of speakers and I learned a few new things.

Now I need to go to bed...big day tomorrow.

I'm NOT IRISH!!!

And I don't wear green on St Paddy's Day! Sorry, if that's being "bah humbug," but until they have Sweden Day and Franco-American celebrations....I'm not celebrating "the wearing of the green."

Hope all my Irish-American pals understand.

I got up late, just in time to eat lunch. Then it was off to get my bloodwork done--can't do it tomorrow as I'll be in Danielson for the Aging Conference. Went to the bank, the store and home. I was freezing and yet it was so warm outside!

Sandy vaccuumed, I cleaned the bathrooms and then I washed the floors....then I collapsed.

I have to be at the Aging Conference at 8:30 tomorrow and stay until around 3pm. I honestly don't know if I will be able to make it all day. I'm going to drink one of those Five Hour Energy things first thing in the AM....and hope it carries me through. The last time I drank one of those, I waited too long I think...it kicked in about a half hour before the party ended! And then I was wide awake almost all night.

So, we'll see how it goes tomorrow. At least if I do start to crash I can get a ride home and it won't be hard for us to come back up to get my car on Thursday. Or whatever.

I "laid out" all my clothes for tomorrow after I took my shower this morning. Now I'm rethinking my outfit. I better get to bed before I drive myself nuts! Well, nuttier than I already am.

Nighty night.

Selection Monday

Watched the Selection Show tonight. Huskies got a pretty easy road to the Final Four....as it should be. I'm happy Rutgers isn't in their bracket....I thought that might happen again. And I also thought the committee might stick Tennessee into UConn's bracket just to set up that drama. Didn't happen.

Charmine came by on her way back from making arrangements for her Mom's memorial service. We had a very nice talk about a lot of things, getting caught up, talking about our Mom's, etc. It reminds me of how much I've missed seeing her on a regular basis. When we worked together at Norwich we would have lunch together all the time. Then when I went to Putnam, I missed her but we would still lunch together when I came down to Uncas.

Since we've retired, we haven't seen each other as much as before and I really miss it. When I'm feeling stronger, we are going to get together to go kayaking and we talked about going to South Boston some weekday when it's nice weather. We could stroll around Maria's neighborhood and then go out to eat with Marieps when she gets home from work---or maybe Maria would be on a day off and we could all go do something together. That sounds good to us.

Charmine is a good person, and I'm lucky to have her as a friend.

Boy, Jim Perdue is on tv, doing one of his chicken ads. The older he gets, the more he looks like his Dad, Frank. I miss Frank!

That reminds me of how I'm looking more and more like my Dad. I look at myself in the mirror, with the weight off my bones and my shoulders sticking out all boney....

Last night I was going into the house from the garage and stumbled on the stairs...and Sandy says "when you go up the stairs like that, you look like your father." I was pleased about that one.

So, now we wait for the games to begin...and when they do, it will be fast and furious. The good times are upon us!

Nighty night and GO HUSKIES!!!

Sunday Shoppers

Biggest thing I did today, besides sit outside in the sun on the deck, was to go to Colchester Toyota with Sandy to look at the cars.

I now have a decision to make....do I have Sandy try to get them to reduce the price of a certain gorgeous sky blue Camry hybrid with leather package and the basic stuff I want OR do I go for the very affordable Prius (silver--no big whup) with all the stuff the Camry has + back-up camera and stability control (safety stuff)???

I think if she can't get them to come down on Option 1 I can live very well with Option 2. It's so nice to live in America...where we have options!

To show you how bad it is at car dealers...the last time I was up there they had only one Prius and were charging a $3,000 premium (price PLUS dealership cost). Now they have three new Prius and at least three used ones....and the price is about $5,000 less than what they were talking before! The Camry's are a lot cheaper too....the hybrids are a bit more, but fairly reasonable.

Oh....I spot one of those new Venza's sitting there--windows down. I get in and find the key in the ignition! I put the windows up and hide the key. I left a note shoved in the door telling them they can call me to find out where the key is hidden.

This is the second time in my life I could have driven a brand new car off the lot without paying for it. It happened once before, when I was in South Carolina. People are so careless about their jobs. You know, all they had to do was look in the key box to make sure all the keys were there.

I would LOVE a Venza...they are gorgeous and if it was a hybrid, I'd go after it BIG TIME!

When they call...if they don't find the key on their own...I'll tell them they can drop the price of that sky blue Camry $2,000 to thank me!

I'll entertain any recommendations from the Peanut Gallery regarding this car decision.

Nighty night
